We might expect that being a follower of Jesus would make our lives free from pain, suffering, or difficulty. But today, Jesus reminds us that we need to count the cost of being his disciple, and then gives us the chance to assess how we’re doing in our life of discipleship. And most importantly, he reminds us why it’s worth it to follow him in faith, no matter what the cost might be!
“Thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:57)
