Self-Promotion? Or Self-Awareness?
Series: Hard Truth
Pride is a sneaky sin. It's very easy for us to identify it in others, but not as easy for us to identify it in ourselves. So what we often find is that self-promotion plays a much bigger part in our lives than we even realize! But through a parable about a wedding banquet, Jesus shows us why prideful self-promotion is spiritually dangerous, and why we need self-awareness instead!

There are lots of different ideas about what heaven is like, and just as many different beliefs about how we get in through the doors! Today, Jesus tells us that the door to Heaven is narrow, and that not everyone will be able to get in. That means, it's all-important to understand how we'll get through that narrow door! Thankfully, Jesus shows us how to get in!

    What the World Needs
    Series: Hard Truth
In John Lennon's classic song, Imagine, he invites his listeners to imagine a world at total peace, and then suggests how we bring that about--by removing everything that causes divisions among people. Things like possessions, countries, and...religion. It might seem like he's on to something when we hear Jesus say in the Gospel, "I have not come to bring peace on earth, but division." But as we look at the example of the Prophet Jeremiah, we see that maybe division is exactly what this world needs!

    Don’t Worry!
    Series: Focused
If you're worried about something, just having someone tell you, "Don't worry!" usually doesn't help much. Not because they aren't intending it to be comforting, but because just saying the words doesn't change the problem that's making you worried! So we might wonder if that's what Jesus is doing when he tells his followers, "Don't worry about your life." We've got a lot of worrisome things, right? So how can Jesus just tell us "don't worry"? But here's the things. Jesus doesn't just say, "Don't worry." He backs it up by showing us all the reasons we really don't have to worry! Watch Pastor Troy's sermon, "Don't Worry" to find out how Jesus, and heavenly treasure, remove every reason we might have for worry!

    Focused Love Doesn’t Count
    Series: Focused
When it comes to determining whether we should show love to someone or not, we usually count the cost. We want to find a balance between what we'll have to sacrifice in order to show love to that person with the benefit and reward we'll receive for showing them love. Or, at best, we want to get more out of showing love than we have to give. But in the story of Ruth, we see an example of what selfless, sacrificial love that doesn't count the cost looks like! And through the story of Ruth, we also find our motivation and reason to love our neighbor without counting the cost!

The Shepherd’s Shepherds Shepherd The Shepherd’s Sheep
For many people, the thought of being under the spiritual care of a pastor is offensive. We want to have spiritual independence and autonomy, to run our spiritual lives without organized religion, or a church, or a pastor having any say in it. But is there value in having pastors and churches? And if so, how can we know who is a trustworthy pastor, and who is a wolf is shepherd's clothing? Watch Pastor Troy's sermon, "The Shepherd's Shepherds Shepherd the Shepherd's Sheep" to find the answers from God's Word!

    Total Commitment
There are some relationships in life where total commitment is expected. Is that true about our commitment to God? Or if he honestly, humbly reflect on our lives, is our commitment to following Jesus often anything but "total"? It's an important thing to do some introspection on our commitment to him, but also vitally important that we understand and take to heart his total commitment to us! Because it's only his commitment to us that can drive our commitment to him!

    Dealing with Demons
The Bible tells us that there's a vast, powerful, ruthless army with one goal and purpose--to destroy you. How does that make you feel? Terrified? Hopeless? Powerless to stop it? While we must acknowledge that Satan and his demons are a powerful, dangerous foe, we can also know why we have no reason to fear them! Watch Pastor Troy's sermon, "Dealing with Demons" to find out the reason we can have peace and confidence, even in the face of thousands of demons!
